Sustainably Sourced

At GDR Timbers we only supply high-quality, dense local eucalyptus that burn longer and hotter in your fireplace. By choosing our local timber, you are supporting sustainable practices and reducing your carbon footprint. It is sourced from the Sydney, Central Coast and Newcastle regions offering a 100% recycling solution to mulched landfill and methane production. Methane is 80 to 86 times more potent than carbon. It is the perfect eco-friendly heating choice for your home, offering a cleaner burn with less waste.

There are over 600 Eucalyptus species across Australia, not all eucalyptus are the same as density variation is between 340kg per metre cubed for Rainbow Gum, to 1250kg per metre cubed for Grey Gum. That is a green(wet) weight difference of 910kg! Along with the weight comes density and coaling property. The denser the coal the longer it retains its structure to produce heat.

For the 2026 season GDR Timbers has 200 tonne (400 cubic metres) on offer to the public, of high quality premium mixed timber (including but not exclusive to): Three types of Iron Bark, River Red Gum, Grey Gum, Black Butt, Tallow Wood, Spotted Gum, Blue Gum, Forest Red Gum, Stringy Bark Yellow and Red, Sydney Peppermint, We source our timber by working in conjunction with Ben Hastings Tree Service and several other local companies.

Low Moisture

At GDR Timbers we process our Fire Wood in accordance with The Fire Wood Association of Australia. That is a minimum of six months split. The logs are gathered and processed up to 18months in advance, to ensure the final product is well aged and dry.
